Mex helo kills dozen on ground; earthquake survey

Yeah, that's been a seismically active area since the earthquakes last September. Third major one. We've been flying volunteer missions to bring supplies down as part of the relief effort. It's gonna be years before things recover. There is a village on the coast near one of the September quakes that might simply have to be abandoned. The quake changed the water table and now all the wells are brackish. That's problem one. Problem two is that essentially everyone in the town is a fisherman. So even if they can (or are forced to) move, they will no longer have their livelihoods. Tough stuff.

So, the quake didn't kill anyone but the government helicopter killed 13? That is sad.

Yeah im betting if it missed the 2 vans and hit the ground there would have been fatalities in the helicopter.

Photos show the intact helicopter on its side and main rotor blades separated. The rotor cut into the vans, causing the deaths.

If the vans hadn't been there, it would have been a normal landing.
