They having driven from Bar Harbor, ME to Wiscasset Airport, he didn't get to take his wife and me on an aerial tour in my Skyhawk because the WX was not cooperating. So we backtracked across the Wiscasset bridge to Edgecomb and dined at the Davis Island Grille(the latest name for a facility that's been operating as restaurant/motel for many decades though under different ownerships). From there we ventured to Brunswick to show him the former NAS Brunswick, now the home of Brunswick Executive Airport. Inside the cavernous Hangar #6 was a new arrival since my last visit, at which Ghery Pettit(Olympia, WA) exclaimed, "Look, a Bamboo Bomber." He continued that the Bamboo Bomber was Sky King's airplane in use for the first couple seasons before moving to the Cessna 310.

Ghery and Marilyn had flown into Logan(Boston), toured Maine for several days, and (hopefully) slept well in my guest room. At this moment they're probably close to entering Boston. It was a fun meeting. Now, who's next to use the guest room?

HR(and I need to get back to KBXM to get some photos of the Bamboo Bomber which is owned by someone in Alaska)

I'll need to fly down to BXM this weekend and check it out!

edit: You should have taken them to Red's Eats - love that place.

We went by it, twice, en route To and From Davis Island Grille. I told them about the history of Red's Eats, which had its usual long lines when we passed it.

I have met several people who frequent this page, they are my customers and I am now overhauling an engine for one.

great folks usually.

Very long. I was at Red's Eats last summer (40 minutes + wait) when an elderly man passed out from standing in the hot sun too long.

Can't beat that lobster roll, though.

Route 1 is a &&$#% this time of year.

Ghery told me that you and he had crossed paths once or twice at air shows.

Years ago I had a Monday - Friday delivery person who'd come from CT. He'd go to Boothbay Harbor and hit me on his return trip. When he'd come from Boothbay Harbor and stop to enter Route #1 -- you will know the spot -- he said that during July and August he'd wait as long as 40 minutes before getting a shot at crossing the north lane to get into the south lane, so steady is the Route #1 traffic. That's why I'm lucky: 6 miles up #127(Georgetown/Arrowsic), right onto route #1 at Dairy Queen, about 5½ miles to Westport Island Road, then turn right for about a mile and I'm at my hangar.

I know where you're talking about.

The problem is: if a stop-light were added, I think traffic would be backed up even worse.

I have made some of my best friends through PoA, and gotten to do some really neat things. There are some great people on this site.

We had a wonderful visit yesterday and today. If the winds aloft had cooperated we would have flown yesterday, but my wife would not have enjoyed it. As you know, " happy wife, happy life." You live in a gorgeous part of the country. Thanks for sharing part of it with us.

If you stay with him, fair warning. A couple friendly cats own the place. :D

To All: the guest room is nearly always open. Evelyn Avenue, a smaller scale recreation of what was my mother's bedroom in Scottsdale, is partially Lexan-blocked because of long-standing edict:"I don't want any cats in my room or on my bed."

Availability of the guest room is usually on very short notice. Last night was unique. Before Ghery and Marilyn were committed to its use a friend and I had gone halves on season tickets to Maine State Music Theater(54 years of presenting Broadway performers and young performers striving for their Actors Equity status). So last week my friend quipped, "By the way, next Wednesday is "Legally Blonde" show night at the theater." "Oh yeah. Hmm, that presents an interesting scenario. But I'll figure something out." Ghery and Marilyn were very gracious in not having me as host/tour guide for the evening, thank you. So anyway, y'all come sometime.

Corey, Mid Maine with a picture of your Sundowner with the Helicopter on a stick behind you. Looks like MIFS at AUG.

(I used to work there, long before they built the new hangers. I worked for Bill Perry SR)

Small world. You are correct, sir!

Bill Jr, Shirley, and David S are still around.

edit:

And don't forget Guy V.

Yes, all the old team. I try to check in with them when I'm home. My last trip to AUG was two years ago with a T-41B from VGT.
