Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

We spent the last three nights, riding around neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights, and came home to hot chocolate and goodies.

Life is good.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Enjoy the season regardless of what or how you celebrate!

Happy solstice con the pagan savages into Christianity by co opting their holiday season.:D Yippee for being on the sunlight upswing.:yes:

We 'celebrate' it. Meet me in the SZ and I'll tell you all about my feelings on religion. But, the fact of the matter is we do it because the kids expect it and we don't want them to feel different or left out. So, up goes the lights and tree and crazy american consumption spending money we don't have. Ho Ho Ho...

Merry Christmas!

I am an atheist, but find my reason for the season in family. Some are believers, others are not, but we all love each other and spending time together.

Merry Christmas!

I have a beautiful wife, two kids and three grand kids and a brother. But I still feel alone somewhat because parents are gone, aunts and uncles are mostly gone, among many friends and others who are not with us.

Christmas can be a depressing time.

This dates me to 1982. Time sure does get away from us.

It's been a few since that '82;
We had a few("GUESTS," I say.)
Maybe some brew - 'twas the day,
And I see Sue who came to play.

It's been a while, those 32 years;
Spaces for smile, laughter, tears.
Near 12000 nights, after each a dawn;
To new heights, where's everyone gone?

Photos not shared over 1600 weeks;
Or such bushy hair adorning my cheeks.
One thinks the suit gives season a blend,
And what a hoot, images just came North from a friend.

Merry Christmas to ALL.

I don't believe the story about the "son of God" or the rising from the dead,
But I do believe in the moral teachings, therefore, I happily celebrate the Holiday. And I happily spend money on loved ones, friends, employees and give to the bell ringers at the grocery store every time I pass them. (Of course, I do this all year, I just step it up several notches at Christmas).
So Merry Christmas to all! Even if you aren't Christian.

Nicely done sir!

You don't have to do that. Just share with your children what you believe, they will respect you more than giving them presents and telling them it's from a guy who you don't believe in. You can always say, mommy and daddy got this for you because we love you. Never allow someone else to take credit with your children for your efforts.

:yeahthat:

And I ate too much and had a lot of fun playing Bid Whist.

Well the aspects you're "celebrating" are the pagan sides, so your feelings on religion aren't relevant there. The fact that you choose to buy into it is, well, your choice.

IMHO, Christmas has been twisted into a grotesque parody of itself. When I saw Christmas trees at Sam's Club last Halloween(!), I knew our society had jumped the shark.

Mary and I have done our best to preserve what is left of this once grand holiday. We do not allow Christmas music in the house until 12/23. We then play it, non-stop, until 12/25, when it is shut off.

We shop locally, in small stores, owned by real people who have families in our small town. They're not franchises, so the money we spend in these stores stays in our community. For stuff they don't handle, it's Amazon. We refuse to expose ourselves to the shopping cart left in the parking spot crowd, and I would die before going to a mall.

We do our best to shield ourselves from the crass commercialism and religious bloviators who have (IMHO) done their best to destroy the holiday. It's almost impossible, but we struggle to keep the traditional season special.
