BBQ place had a "sampler platter" for $2 more than the sandwich platter. Brisket, pulled pork, turkey, & sausage plus two sides.....I'm in serious trouble heading for a nap...the girl behind the counter said it was low cholesterol as she was taking my money...

Piggin out. - Morrison and old kipling

That's called a food induced coma :)
Or a pig syndrome full belly and a shade tree. zzzzzzzz

Forget the next POA lunch flight - BBQ over there close to you, not close to FTG, but who cares for really good BBQ.

Closed Sunday & Monday - what about lunch next Tuesday?

Outdoors only - definitely the SaltLink outside Austin before it got fancy.

I might be awake by next Tuesday...serious digestive processing to be done...avoided nap by cleaning gutters this afternoon. This happy homeowner crap is for the birds...

Funny you should mention Austin. I'll be there next Tuesday so unavailable for lunch. What is this BBQ place you are talking about there?

Of course you could always join us in Austin. That would be an interesting lunch run.

Kinda tired and read the title too fast as "meet coma" then thought who the hell would name their dog "coma".

I'll be off line for a while getting some coffee....

Dammit. I'm gonna be in that neighborhood in a few weeks. Now I gotta go by and get euthanized by BBQ.

The Salt Lick is pretty good! They have a stand in the main terminal at Bergstrom.

It's called "postprandial somnolence". A doctor friend of mine laid that term on me once, and I liked it. Sounds all medical-ly.

Salt Lick - excellent. It's a bit outside of Austin (not far), but they have a location in the AUS passenger terminal. The main location has much more character.

If you've got a bit of time and a car, head on down to Lockhart. 3-4 great BBQ places there, including the world-famous and excellent Kreuz Market. Lockhart is about 30 miles south of AUS.

Lockhart better, only 20nm, kaus-50r

SaltLick's gotten too fancy. Multiple locations, you can get the sauce in bottles even here in Colorado.

Get the doc to make it an official diagnosis so when you call asleep at work, they can't fire you.

We will have a car so I will float some of these ideas. I looked at the Salt Lick website and it says the Driftwood location is cash only and BYOB. Really?

Yes, it is cash only. And they don't have a liquor license so BYOB. As I recall, there's a cash machine on-premises so cash isn't a big deal, but BYOB s a bit more problematic.

Kreuz serves BBQ pretty basic: no forks (BYOF). No sauce. No plates (just brown paper). But it is renowned. As I recall, they sell beer.

Smitty's in Lockhart is also a religion. Again, BYOF. And also cash-only. They sell beer, though.

And finally Black's in Lockhart. Also great. Also serves beer. Does take credit. Or did last time I was there.

Ok thanks. Some people are from Canada and not sure if they carry that much US cash or can us US ATMs. I've tried ATMs in Canada. Some work, some don't.

There are some other good BBQ places around Austin. I just don't recall off the top of my head. Everyone, it seems, has their favorite....

I like Busbee's out in Bandera - but that's a LONG way from Austin.

I like BBQ which is not too sweet. I can usually get around that by avoiding too much of the sauce. I see one of those places you mention doesn't even have sauce. We went to a place I enjoyed in Ft. Worth near the stockyards. I believe is was called Cooper's. Who knows what the others will like, though.

Sounds like I need an excuse to go to Lakewood. And LO and BEHOLD I have to take the RV to the dealer on Monday. Nice.

BBQ Saturday

I flew to Gainesville TX and had a smoked ham on toast sandwich today at the Smokehouse BBQ just west of airport and brought home 2.5 lbs of sliced brisket which we had for supper tonight. Mmmmm good!. Topped it off with a double bourbon and a bowl of chocolate ice cream for dessert while watching a couple episodes of Game of Thrones
