Maverick

I suspect lawyers watching legal dramas, doctors watching medical dramas etc roll their eyes at some of the same stuff. As many have said, "It's not a documentary"

There are plenty of Youtube videos of lawyers, doctors, and other specialists nitpicking films and tv shows about their specialty, including pilots.

Whenever my SCUBA club gets together for a party or is off on an overnight trip, we watch Sea Hunt DVDs, and howl with laughter.

Fully aware that Sea Hunt actually got a lot right, and was responsible for many of us getting into diving.

I learned all my underwater knife fight skills from watching Sea Hunt :)

Hurt Locker a perfect example of public praise (won best picture) yet almost universally criticized by vets. Generation Kill, an excellent series. Generation War should’ve been on the list as well.

For anyone who's actually driven a race car, racing movies are almost all terrible, and "Days of Thunder" was one of the hokiest. In fact, there have only been two good ones in the history of cinema: "Grand Prix" and "LeMans." "Grand Prix" had a silly plot and "LeMans" didn't have any plot at all, but the racing was depicted quite well in both.

Agreed.

And, who was the star of "Days of Thunder"???????? :D

Just watched it at home with the wife. A fun ride, though as stated a lot of suspension of disbelief was in order.

We spent a lot of time trying to figure out where we knew the actor playing Rooster from. He was SO familiar. Had to look up Miles Teller to remember he was the lead in the TV series “The Offer”, about the making of The Godfather.

Did we miss the part where the movie explained why a missile couldn’t have taken out site with a lot less risk?

I missed that part, too. Trivial shot for a JASSM. Suspension of disbelief, y’know...

But I did like the part where the ATFLIR failed. The Navy should have bought Sniper pods instead of that piece of crap.

Other than that Mrs Lincoln how was the play? ;)

I'm always mystified by those that have such an all encompassing condemnation of anything.

Well, Hitler did keep the trains running on time right? It's just a movie with a bad actor who can't keep from playing the same forever frat boy. I'm sure you can think of something you can condemn in whole right?

Same! Took a while but eventually saw a glimpse of Whiplash, and the light bulb clicked on!
