I flew Huntsville to Tuskegee on Tuesday and kept thinking my wife drives almost as fast as I was flying (about 85) although I was going direct so it only took 1:40. The trip back yesterday had a tailwind and I saw 135 kts in my 150 hp Cardinal fully leaned. 1:10 on the clock. I flew both flight in the morning and only had a few bumps on the approach to 06A.

It seems like I always get headwinds both ways but I finally got a good tailwind.

I'm hoping that someday I'll get tailwinds both days! (Not holding my breath, though. :))

Cub today: 100 mph (ground) West, 60 mph (ground) East.
When I (finally) got back it was 15+mph 90 degrees to the runway.
Just another (wonderful) day in the Cub.

I know a guy who flew his J-3 Cub from southern Oregon to Oshkosh a few years ago, while his wife followed in their motor home. She wasn't far behind eastbound, and going home westbound he was following her most of the way.

:p

Heck, I remember driving across Wyoming on I-80. Headwind. And firmly convinced that if I had taken off on an interchange and reversed direction I would still have had a headwind. A strong one.
