Maine Happenings

Standing ovation for the American taxpayer who made this possible by building the naval base and the interstate that supply's it.

Ghery: Tempus Jets is in the big Hangar 6 you visited when you were here; they and Kestrel. The FBO is moving into the nearby building which houses what WAS the original Tower which, itself, was replaced by the new tower only a few years before the NAS Base was closed.

[EDIT:] Pictures from April 02, 2011, the day the NAS airport became public. We were just taxiing to #6.
#1 shows the new home of the FBO which has been in Hangar 6.
#2 shows Hangar 6. Kestrel is in the left half; Tempus Jets in the the right half.

Always good to see aviation doing well.

Here in maryland 3 owe their current existence to the government. Easton, sailsbury and Martin state the latter being where Martin built martin marauders, mars, during WW2. Easton and sailsbury were built during WW as training, sub hunting bases as was georgetown Delaware. Turned over to county govt. For pennies on the dollar. The all do reasonably well.

I guess we should thank the Germans and the Japanese for forcing us to build so many bases during WWII that we had no further military need for after the hostilities were over. It's not like they were all built for no reason and then declared surplus.

I fly over the ex-Brunswick NAS and go into IWI. In addition to the other stuff mentioned, the airport sports the summer home of the Texas Flying Legends.

- - and sometime when you do that, give me some advance notice and we can do lunch at any one of several local spots. My hangar is Unit A-1 at IWI.

HR(or land at Brunswick and I'll pick you up)
