Thought you guys might enjoy some pictures I stumbled across today, taken during a family vacation to the Frio River in 2005. After this trip, my daughter Abby decided she wanted to be an A&P. ;-)

Mooney Factory Tour, with some nice M20M's under construction and being prepped for delivery.

I see one picture. The entrance to Gillespie County Airport.

Thanks! I've seen bigger airplanes being made but not small GA airplanes.

Your one daughter really looks unhappy

LOL, the one in pink? She had a sunburn from floating the river, is noise sensitive and couldn't get the earplugs they gave us to "seat" properly. I think she'd have liked to have had normal headset-style hearing protection. There's a lot of riveting and metal stamping going on in a Mooney factory!

Not even through the second row when I see a name I know jump out at me. Evidently a fellow I know was having a Mooney made! Small world.

Thanks for the pictures!

EDIT: Going through the pictures, saw one being made that ended up being based with us up here in PA for a while. Cool!

Cool! Send him the picture!

I certainly hope Mooney can make a go of it.

They're not going to be able to do it with that manufacturing facility. They'll have to do it in China. The facility in those pictures is ummm primitive (and sloppy).

Been trying to organize a group tour for Texas pilots for a while. Wanted to go over Christmas but the factory was understandably closed.
And since they are open only on weekdays, it is not easy to get people to go.
Still hoping that we can pull it off one day.

Weren't they all built in a place like that?

I remember calling the factory a few years ago to get parts and there was only one person who still worked there. That's what they told me, IDK if its true or not but I hope they get going again.
