I've been looking for a decent handheld radio backup. Looking for to pay no more than $150.

The Yaesu FTA-550AA is a great radio for $195 plus a $25 rebate from the factory until Sept 30th gets you close to your $150 budget at $170.

    Includes:
    • Cigarette Lighter Adapter
    • BNC Helical Antenna
    • Headset Adapter Cable
    • Alkaline Battery Tray
    • Belt Clip
    • USB Cable
I have a Yaesu and they are solid radios. If I were to buy another one, probably would get this one from Sporty's as the headset can plug in directly without an adapter cable.

I have the FTA-450 with the rechargeable battery and love it. Very long lasting battery
