Lost a memeber in our EAA chapter yesterday

He crashed on take off about 1.5 miles south of the field. Never arrived at his destination and a search was put out. 4 hours after take off they find the wreckage 1.5 miles from the airport. Killed him and his passenger. All crashes suck but when they are close to home makes it sink in more.

Nope not yet, wasn't a medical thing as the primlim autopsy came back today. Engine trouble is all im hearing at the moment.

No the search I believe took a few hours but not 4. he departed at 6am and search started around 10ish..around noon it was reported found.

Impossible turn, sounds like. Engine quit, and there was no fire after the crash.
