Update: to https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/cessna-310.100389/

So my 6-8 month time frame that I reference back in January got advanced, primarily because I never stopped plane shopping everyday, and I found a 310Q in my local area that had almost everything I wanted. It has wing boots, alcohol windshield, hot props, average total time, low times on the motors since major overhaul at a reputable shop (although several years since the overhaul), low time props, semi-recent prop re-seal, nice (not perfect) paint job, really nice interior, Garmin 530/430 stack (unfortunately not WAAS but I will fix that), 400B auto-pilot with GPSS, GTX327, GMX200 MFD, HSI, and radar to hit the highlights.

I put an offer that I felt was fair after consulting Vref/a few people and the seller accepted. I have a purchase agreement in hand. It is currently getting a fresh annual and after talking to the mechanic conducting it, I feel pretty good. I have the pre-purchase inspection scheduled for Thursday.

I joined TTCF as suggested here, thanks @Ted DuPuis and @Twin_Flyer, and highly suggest it to anyone thinking about buying a twin cessna. I got references for a great finance company that had terms perfect for me and insurance companies that quoted cheaper than I thought I would get. Hopefully, if all goes well with the pre-purchase and test flight, I'll be closing in the next 1-2 weeks and will post an update with pictures to follow.

Congrats. The C310 is one of the planes I hope to own later in life. Later down the road, you should post a thread showing your maintenance costs after a year, I'd be interested in that.

Great news, I was wondering how things were going... Glad I could help out... Keep us posted and good luck...

Congrats! C310 a nice un!

Congrats! Hope you enjoy the 310 for years to come.

Don't do it...:goofy:No, that's not a good measurement. The first couple of years will involve catch up maintenance and is not a good indication of the annual cost to operate the plane... I don't know if I was lucky or not but after getting the catch up things done my first year was nothing but fixed cost, oil w/exhaust AD and 100ll...:happydance:

Haha. I figured at least the first year will be inflated to get it to OP's standards, but I'd still be interested in knowing those numbers.

The first year were the things the my A&P recommended be done along with some things that were not addressed on the pre-buy. The second year in my case were the things that I wanted done. This year will most likely be more off my hit list.

Congrats! The C310 is a nice plane, even if it isn't a Bonanza. ;)

But no pics? How do we know it is real?

If you don't mind me asking, what year is yours and how much did you buy it for? Also, what's your personal avg fuel consumption?

Congratulations! I loved the 310! Great choice.

I think 310s are around 13 a side per hour, 26 gph total if I recall correctly.

It's a 79 and it was $98,700 after we negotiated the pre-buy items. I normally get about 26 gl/hr LOP at between 9 and 12 k. That gives me about 180 kts. Loving every min. of flying her...

Nice....that'd be the next plane after the Bonanza for me. If there is a next. :D

Not bad:). Probably a question for another thread, and based heavily on each person's financials, but how long of a loan would you recommend getting, particularly for a plane like yours around 100k?

Couldn't help but notice the irony of a guy asking about taking out a loan for a piston twin, with a display name of "broke engineer"......:D

:D. Well I'm just getting opinions for distant future ideas...As far taking out a loan for a piston twin, there's no way I'd throw down 100k in cash on a plane unless a inherit a few million bucks...

I'm thinking 10-15 years is a typical term for an aircraft loan.

U can get 20 from aopa if ur loan amount is over 90k

I can't comment on loans, but I would say the would depend on the individual. As far as length of loans I think 20 years was what I had been seeing from a lot of lenders. I'm kind of glad I didn't have to go that route...:happydance:
