I used to rent a 162. ELSA + LSRM would be the way to go.
And be sure to reference the new MOSAIC rules.Thanks. Looking mostly for non normal airplane information. A good example would be the battery. It uses a new lithium battery that is smaller/lighter than normal. It was not turning over the motor reliably, and was at 11.9 VDC if it sat for a week or more. So I bought a new one and had it installed. It will not get over 12.5 VDC. I am used to Lead Acid aircraft / car batteries that will read like 13-14 volts when new/healthy/fully charged. Is 12.5 normal for a healthy battery? Also for example the first time it rained, water just came straight in the fresh air vents. Looked for plugs online but nothing for the 162 that I could find. Stuff like that. If I had an RV-12 LSA, I could hop on a forum, search my question and get instant, solid answers.Welcome to PoA!

Just to clarify. Obviouslsy when the O-200 is running, it is charging fine at 14.3-14.5 VDC. The 12.5 VDC is with Master on, engine not running. This becomes more important when you realize that the battery is very small and it can take 30-45 minutes for a database update which draws it down.Thanks. Thanks. Couldn't afford an RV-12Maybe you should have gotten an RV-12?
IIRC the 162 came with an Odyssey. Did you replace it with an EarthX?
In any case, a fully charged lead acid battery will not read 14V open circuit voltage.
Maybe consider ground power if you're doing database updates?
I cover my wing root vents with painters tape when it gets cold, that would probably work for rain as well.
So are you saying 12.5 VDC is a perfectly healthy voltage for a new Odyssey battery?Maybe you should have gotten an RV-12?

The Skycatcher I instructed in for many years had an odyssey battery (PC545 I think) that worked great.Thanks. Looking mostly for non normal airplane information. A good example would be the battery. ODYSSEY batteries ship from the factory fully charged. If the battery’s open circuit voltage is higher than 12.65V, simply install it in your vehicle and you are ready to go; if below 12.65V boost charge the battery following the instructions in this manual or the owner’s manual. For optimum reliability, a boost charge prior to installation is recommended, regardless of the battery’s Open Circuit Voltage (OCV).
Thanks!
Have a kid 3d print them for you. It will cost you a candy bar.But I like my fancy cowl plugs and was hoping to get a matching set for the round air vents.
I was going to tell him to send me the dimensions, his desired color, and a few hundred bucks and I would sew him a couple of custom covered foam inserts...but you had to go and say this.Have a kid 3d print them for you. It will cost you a candy bar.
