My next annual will be in ATL area. Looking for some recommendations of AP/IA. A Cherokee / archer specialist would be the preference. Not sure where my home base will be, but shooting for KRYY or KFTY.

Any mechanic on this board in that area? Or anyone else who can recommend a shop?

KIIY Southern Air Repair

Take a hop outside Bravo, check out an antebellum town with a couple decent restaurants/antique shops on the square.

Nothing at FTY that I know of. If it’s just as close, I’d recommend RYY for a home base, neither FBO at FTY are big fans of light singles. I use S&S in Canton, CNI, they are more of a twin Cessna shop, but they work on a lot of different airplanes and have always been good to me.

Hanger and Tie Down space are not easy to find in ATL area airports. Call the FBO's and get on the waiting lists, sort out the costs.

That part is already done at RYY and FTY. I am on the list but that doesn’t mean much. LZU might have space but one of the hangar owners I spoke to have some pretty stringent criteria for getting on the list with deposit and all and that is not refundable if the hangar is available and I choose not to take it. If I stay around Marietta, which is looking like a possibility, drive to LZU would not be fun. So kind of a limbo here, hoping to know more around mar-apr timeframe. Still need to find a good APIA, doesn’t matter which airport I end up getting the hangar in. Tie down is not an option.

May want to check out Pauling, Polk, or Cartersville

I'm in Marietta and have to drive to Gainesville KGVL because lack of options. Thats an almost 1:30 drive. Looking to move to LZU in the near future.

Can you do tie down at least for a while? Crazy idea. Tie down at Pauling and have a hanger for those longer periods at Gainesville?

Really dont want to keep the plane outside if i can. he paint is trash, so probably doesnt matter, but the idea of keeping the plane on ramp for any amount of time - not sure if i will be able to sleep well lol. does it hail over there? that is a big concern here as well as some 35-45 kt wind that comes from nowhere and hangs around

i am planning to head out to the ATL area sometime in Mar-Apr to scout the area and see what i can find for house / hangar etc. I will do the long drive if i have to until i can find a hangar closer to where i want to live. the guy at KRYY made it sound like something might open up in april timeframe. if that happens, i am open to moving the plane their first and do my move later in June-July.

I live in Marietta about 10 min from KRYY here in west cobb county.

No 45kt winds that I can recall
Can’t think of a hail storm, I guess it could happen
The summer heat is why a hanger is nice more than winter weather.

We do get winds, rain, and hail, and inside is better than outside, but ours isn't a horrible environment to leave an aircraft on the ramp for a few months.

Hail absolutely happens. Not like in the midwest though, but I could see the smoke from this (hail induced) crash from my parent's home in West Cobb when it happened.

Check out West Georgia, Carrolton GA, KCTJ, straight West from Atlanta and off I20 about an hour there might be some t hangars there, cheap fuel,ILS I am pretty sure the big hangar is not that very full, maybe some one on here can verify

There's a guy at JZP who is pretty much up on Piper. Does a very good job, and takes great pride in their work.

I had a good experience with Scott at 21Victor located in a hangar on KHMP.

Edit: I never had an annual done with him, but he was a great help at reasonable rates when I needed some repairs. If I moved back to Atlanta, he would be my first call for an annual.
