Ideally when you and her (and any other woman pilot reading this) are around girls - and even other women - it becomes known to them that you are pilots and that you enjoy it. I believe you already know how influential that knowledge can be.

I guess I just have a hard time thinking I can influence anyone nor would I particularly want to influence anyone. I've always thought that people need to follow their own path although I can see that it helps if they are exposed to whatever it is and can see that it is possible.

Me too. I always light up when people ask what I've been up to and I tell them stories of flying on the coast but I don't force them into flying lessons after that. And in a thread on the Purple Board someone even said if my boyfriend was "interested" he would be taking his own flying lessons by now. So like you said, people will do what they want to do.

Yes, everyone must make up their own minds as to what to do. That said, people often need some sort of role model (or example if you prefer) to at least help show the possibilities from which they can choose. Leslie has commented about how she is a role model to some girls that she's never met because their mother works W/ Leslie and has told them about her.

Speaking of role models, I'm reminded of the article that my niece had published in Sport Aerobatics.

About those statistics...well, on the day of the first photo, there were three of us ladies giving Young Eagle flights as well as two male pilots, so we outnumbered them that day.

The second photo is from a day last year when Barb and I flew up to Miami County to have lunch with Kim, who flew her airplane down to meet us. I am fortunate to be able to spend time with so many lady pilots, not only in our area, but also at our fly-ins.

I just joined a flying group on FaceBook and a FEMALE pilot who says she wants to knock the rust off sent me a reply that she might meet / fly with me. I think she said she is / was an airline pilot too.

To this day the only female pilot I've flown with is Mari and she was also my only female passenger.

I can only fit one or maybe two dudes in the plane with fuel at the tabs.. but I can get two chicks w/ full fuel or THREE with fuel at the tabs. * winning *
