Climbed into an airport loaner car with several guys I didn't know. The old guy volunteered to drive. I had a bad feeling after it took him 5 minutes of fumbling with his phone to enter a one word destination into Waze.

Then he tried to kill us all by turning in front of an approaching car at an intersection. Oh Shiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!

The lesson? Always volunteer to drive when you're gonna take the loaner car with a group of folks you don't know...

It wouldn’t surprise me. 90% or more of drivers think they are not only above-average, but in the 99th skill percentile. At least if you fly with someone who turns out not to know how to fly, most planes have dual controls and you might be able to save your life. In a car, the best you can do is tuck and roll out the door.

Reminds me of that old joke.

When my time comes, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my great uncle. Not screaming and angry like his passengers.
