LAX controller vs AA pilot

In his first readback I hear "hotel, hotel to quebec" not "hotel, hold short of quebec" - sounds like a tired crew.

Your post made me curious. It's a really nice pairing - one leg to Kona, big ass overnight, then one leg home. If those dudes were tired, they did it to themselves by spending too much time on the beach! :p

I hear "hotel, hold short of quebec".

The preposition goes by pretty quick. It's the only word that I'm not sure of. It could be "of" or "at".

"Hold short at quebec" would be an improper readback, without stating the runway, and an airline pilot should know that.
