For some reason, I just clicked on the very last page of my Watched Threads and was perusing some of the first threads on PoA for fun, checking to see if folks I hadn't heard from in a long time were still here.

One person who was quite a character, and an excellent storyteller, was @Lawreston. He hasn't been on the board since 2019, so I went to Google and found that he has gone west as of this past September.

RIP, Jerry, and thank you for the stories.

Ah man. Yeah, he used to be a fairly consisted poster with good stories.

Sad to hear the news.

My wife and I met him on a trip down East; interesting guy.
Did he not get a 172 tangled into the trees once?

I think that is correct. He had vision problems and preferred to remain a Student Pilot, flying with PPASEL folk to be legal in his plane. He also frequently used the name Harley Reich just for grins.

Blue Skies, Lawreston/Jerry/Harley. You and I never met, but we did meet on line.
Thanks for the stories and pictures….

Yep. https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/api/Aviation/ReportMain/GenerateNewestReport/58890/pdf

But that was before PoA even existed, so I think he posted about it on the old AOPA "yellow board" from whence many of our "founding" PoA members came, myself included. I do remember that, as with all things, he kept good humor about it.

I remember @EdFred stayed with him on his sojourn around the country too.

RIP. My wife and I spent a night at his place in 2012. He was a gentleman.

Jerry Lawreston posted about Flea Island and Gays Island in ) Peasant Point and I enjoyed reading it so much as it's about my aunt's Dorothy Simpson and Elisabeth Ogilvie. My mother (Bette Simpson) and father (Dana Herrick) lived on Flea Island after WW2 with my brother when he was a baby. It is a cute island, back when Aun Liz owned it. We visited my aunts on Gays island and their house on the mainland for so many years, hauling Aunt Dots pots for lobsters, finding arrowheads on the island paths, keeping company as they write their many books. Beautiful memories.
