"but of those deaths, how many were death BECAUSE of WW2 and not death WITH WW2?"How many combat fatalities were there in WW2?

US or overall? How many combat fatalities were there in WW2? Not total, combat.
Okay, deaths are going up significantly in my state of Texas. You agree we should worry about those death numbers that we are seeing on the rise in some states. I am confused - what do you think we should be doing?
I saw a number of over 400,000
144000 x 2 is not 400,000

Okay I'm going to ask you again since you seem to be having trouble staying on your own train of thought. You said that you're only worried about death numbers. The coronavirus death numbers are rising quickly in some states. I asked what you think we should be doing to combat these numbers and deaths. Your response is DON'T DEMAND I WEAR A MASK. I don't understand your point of view but I would like to. How does this help reduce the rising death numbers in these states? Do you have anything to add? Those that are worried about it can stay home and stay safe. Your CHOICE.
I’m not DEMANDING you don’t wear a mask. Stop DEMANDING that I do.

Why put them in isolation? Everyone else in the country can fend for themselves knowing that there are infected travelers around, right? Isolation is an affront to their freedom to be a tourist!! Why don't you show them around the country and you can choose to wear a mask, or not.Won't argue that. If each country is treated as an individual, those flights should have been banned in January, and anyone coming back put into isolation.
Well I see 291,000.
And how many of those people were over the age of 65 and due to die anyway?

And how many of the younger ones that didn't die will have permanent disabilities and possibly die at a younger age due to complications from COVID? Or is this like our veterans, if you don't die, we don't give a f... about you?

Go live in the woods and disavow all aspects of a connected society if you don't want to be part of it. That is your choice. Then you can only worry about yourself and the grizzlies. Otherwise, be a good person and help others as a part of the transaction of being able to use the roads, power, water, electricity, businesses and services, health care, etc. that the society provides as a condition of living in it.THIS.
If I am to be responsible for Matt’s safety, then he in turn is responsible for MY safety. So, Matt, I need to you follow me around 24/7 and be ready to protect me if I’m about to be mugged, robbed, etc. You had damn well better be there, bucko, since we are all responsible for each other.
No? Fine. I’ll continue to be the only one responsible for ME, as intended.
As far as people saying “masks aren’t going to be forever”, man I chuckle at that. Here we are into our fourth month of that little “2 weeks to ‘flatten the curve’ thing”.

The point on testing was as capacity increased, the testing delay decreased. So due to batching of reports, delayed tests...
So there are two numbers to consider. Number based on date reported and number based on date of death. The two rarely agree. I have NOT looked at the details, but from what I have seen posted elsewhere, the reported number is often artificially higher due to labs not working weekends, delayed results....

I have read the post fully and I have come back. How does this have any bearing on the death numbers. If 100,000 people per day were dying to a pandemic disease would you say the exact same thing? If so, do death numbers even matter to you at all?
Or, Since you are worried about It much more than I am, you wear a mask that prevents you from catching the Covid that I might or might not have. Bonus, if I do get it, I will stay home until I die or get better.Go live in the woods and disavow all aspects of a connected society if you don't want to be part of it. That is your choice. Yes, there are a lot. There are also a lot of really stupid people, probably of agnostic political persuasion, who insist on having large parties at their homes and in county parks, where no one is enforcing any form of physical distancing.
Other states absolutely should have restricted travel from NY during the peak outbreak. Now that NY is one of the safest places to be, they should restrict travel from hotspots. NY did a poor job in some areas because they were at the forefront of understanding the virus. Also, the president was downplaying the severity every day, certainly not helping everyone come together to stop the spread. Lessons learned from NY are being applied across the country and world to make the next cases more manageable. Places that are not taking the advice are getting hit harder. And the rich people that travelled out to rural areas and did not quarantine themselves are at fault for spreading it. They had a responsibility to their new communities and in many cases, did not follow through. And yes, that means that they should have looked after others, not just themselves. The NYT estimated that 75% of cases nationwide are traceable back to NYC. Here in NH at one of our ski area towns (Waterville Valley) elementary school registration is up 40% for the fall, lots of NY plates here in NH.

I’ll help you along, you appear to need it. My response to your deaths question was “YOU stay home, YOU stay safe”.
Tada.
My request for you to stop being a hypocrite by demanding behavior from me, but not liking my suggested behavior of you was more of a plea.
I guess my point was that I don’t give a flying fig about “cases”. Deaths are what we should worry about.
Okay. I have been responding to this part of your post. If deaths are what we should worry about, which is a direct quote from you, what do we do about reducing deaths? "Don't make me wear a mask" and "wear one if you want" doesn't sound like a way to reduce deaths.
The reason I'm talking with you and quoting this part of your previous post is to understand your point of view about the deaths (which you say should be worried about) and how to lower them, I am not demanding any behavior out of you. I'm discussing it with EdFred because (metaphorically) isolating myself with only people who think the way I do isn't a good or reliable way to get a well-rounded viewpoint on an issue.
I want to hear what you have to say but so far I'm not seeing anything but "the best way to reduce deaths is to not tell me what to do and wear one if you want" and that doesn't make sense.
The Black Death. Now that was a pandemic. There’s some Jewish folk who might want a chat with you about why we sacrificed a couple hundred thousand... to save...
WWII is still WAY higher magnitudes than Covid.
Another perspective item. When the media was freaking out about FL. Wording like “record setting deaths” and such.
They wrote that at 150 deaths a day.
Normal death rate per day that month in FL?
250.
Covid ain’t pretty, but how it’s described is a significant factor in total fear levels.
They were setting Covid records. They weren’t even halfway to normal deaths per day.
AND they were caught mixing them. Which could be ignored honestly as normal. But it lowers the Covid number further.
Will Covid surpass normal death rates? Math looks like it for some areas. Sure. Linear growth is luckily not happening in most places or has incredibly shallow slopes compared to infections, which is great news mathematically.
But WWII deaths? Gimme a break. It might catch up by the very end of the epidemic. Numbers say it will worldwide. Not even close yet.
SmallPox was a natural occurrence. Malaria is too worldwide and was in the US until the government spent a lot of money to eradicate it in the 1950s. Would you rather that the government re-release it back into the world so we can be more natural? Or does the government/society not have a responsibility to take care of anything natural anymore? There's a difference though. One is a natural occurence, and one is not. I think vets need to be much better taken care of than they are as they were providing services, sacrifices, and duties under federal oversight.
The life expectancy in the US is almost 79 years.
I said they did a poor job in some areas, how is that sugarcoating it? Please give me a list of exactly what you would have done with you as Governor and knowing what we knew back in March-May. Somehow cleaning the subways would have stopped the pandemic? Looks like surfaces don't even transmit much virus according to the recent results, so that would not have changed very much. You're sugar coating a lot the mistakes made by #KillerCuomo, when did they didn't start nightly cleaning of the subways until May 6th and the MTA is a state agency. BTW May 6 was 4 days prior to him reversing his murderous nursing home order.
But as a society, what did it Actually gain us? Individually, great. But as a whole mankind what is the benefit?Fair enough. I was using present day figures.
Still, it's impressive that in just 75 years the average lifespan in this country has been increased by 14 years. Be thankful for advances in medicine, better management of infectious diseases, fewer people smoking, safer cars, and a number of other factors. I suppose there are people out there opposed to every one of them.

A few more years of your rambling it seems. But as a society, what did it Actually gain us? Individually, great. But as a whole mankind what is the benefit?
Ditto, Babe.A few more years of your rambling it seems.
I think this is the third time I’ve answered your question. I’ll try to be even more brief:
YOU stay home. You won’t get it. I promise to not come to your house and cough, sneeze burp or fart on you.
The Black Death. Now that was a pandemic.
I appreciate that!
My point is that I think we can all agree to not do that in someone else's home, and the extension of that is not doing it in someone else's face. The tools to prevent doing that unintentionally are masks and social distancing. That's the only point I'm trying to make. I agree that the death rates are concerning and I want to do my part to stop them from rising. But these rates aren't in my control, they are in our control. I can't accompany you to get pegboards tonight but I'll settle for helping someone here instead if you'll allow that.
