I'm in the process of replacing my old and failing altitude encoder, with a new ACK A-30 Mod 9. I'd like to use the RS-232 output for the KLN-94 GPS, to take advantage of the simpler wiring, if possible.

Any avionics techs here that have knowledge of the KLN-94 that can tell me if the KLN-94 will accept the RS-232 input, rather than having to re-wire all the grey-code pins?

The KLN-94 only supports 4 RS232 input formats (Formats A-D referenced in the manual) and is more geared towards receiving fuel data. Formats C and D do support receiving pressure altitude along with fuel data, but your Ack does not support outputting in any of those formats, so you'll need to keep the grey code lines.
