How big a splash do you get when you drop an inert bomb into a lake from a high altitude B52?

There really isn't a good place to watch - R-4207 is in the middle of the Pike East MOA and it looks like any boats in the area are going to get chased out.

"We [Bayview Mackinac Race Committee, G.T.] have been notified by the United States Air Force that a special training will be taking place on Monday, July 16th after 1400 hrs. in the special military training box noted on Lake Huron chart #14860 that lies 13 miles east of Thunder Bay (please see chart inset). This exercise will involve dropping inert bombs from very high altitude B 52 aircraft. Any BBBMR [Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race, G.T.] racing boat that is in that box after 1400 hrs. on Monday will be escorted out of the box by the USCG cutter Bristol Bay. Failure to obey the USCG, US Air Force, or any other military or law enforcement representatives may result in those persons and vessel being taken into custody and/or fined. This warning supersedes the Racing Rules of Sailing and any other BBBMR race documents. "

I bet the TFR is a larger area and a longer time. Because it will be put out by the FAA, and because they can.

The way it is worded, it sounds like that is only directed at boats in the racing club.

So far there isn't one. Should be no reason. Restricted airspace is Restricted airspace. You can't fly in it without permission. Just like TFR's

It was from an email update from the race committee for the participants (I'm not going this year, but am still on the mailing list).

Depends on what they are going to drop, as to how big of a splash it makes. 600 gallon fuel tanks make a decent splash, as they become pancakes as they hit.:p
