Keeping Track of 100hr inspections for renters?

Every time your plane is NOT available when the renter wants to fly it, you are losing revenue hours. Doing an inspection early may make the amortized cost of the inspection more as it's only spread out over 95 hours and not 100, but it is certainly NOT reflecting lost revenue HOURS.

I've been on both sides of the leaseback situation (both as a lessor and as a club operator). You've got to manage your maintenance to keep the plane available to your customers if you want to be successful. This is the NUMBER ONE reason why leases fail.

Unfortunately I haven't run into that problem yet since my plane came online late fall/early winter. We'll see if that becomes an issue in spring and summer. LoL

I say it doesn't help because rental amounts seem to vary for this plane. For example, I could write down that 1 week the plane is 70 hours past it's last 100hr, and two weeks later the plane may have only flown 10 hours, or a different set of 2 weeks could have flown 30+ hours. So it'd be nice for either the school to block out the time they expect to have a inspection at least a few days in advance, or have the hours regularly put on their website(what I suggested).
I manage to keep abreast of it with a CAP plane. Sometimes I have to make a few phone calls.

The FBO probably knows all the renters' habits.

Not many schools have/can afford a IT guy

All of them. There's always an IT person who wants free flight time. Haha.

(I think all of the local clubs have more IT people willing to work on their systems than they know what to do with. LOL)

Better for the renters, sure. Better for my pocket book? Not really. Now if it's an hour or two, I'm not gonna try to squeeze in one last instructional flight. But if it's more than 5, no. Those hours are going to get flown before it costs me money.
Penny smart, pound foolish.

Maybe. If I get to the point that the plane is so in demand that people are climbing over themselves to rent it, I might change my tune. But for the once a week it has been rented this winter... I'm good. Lol

You can play that game is So-Cal, try it in Ohio this week

Update: I got a voicemail from the other co-owner today. They said the obvious answer that it's hard to predict hours and it could vary widely day to day. I already knew this, my point is to have them on the website so that I can at least be prepared to possibly have the cancellation, and it not come up unexpectedly.

Well this school definitely has a IT guy on hand. Whether or not they trade him for plane hours like others have suggested I have no idea.

Not to minimize the issue, but it certainly Joe be worse...back when I was flight instructing, I averaged once a month where a student at the college flight school at the next airport over called me at home about 0700. They needed a quick checkout in our 152 or Archer for their checkride that day, since the scheduled airplane suddenly went out of annual.

Usually this happened in the second half of the month.
