Check out these two approaches. Very different minimums. Can anyone tell me why this Yankee approach exists?

Edit: I think I get it, the Missed procedure requires a much higher performance climb out on the Zulu... anything else?

Nothing else, you've got it. The terrain to the east requires a steeper climb than standard in order to allow lower minimums.
