With help from Qatar, it looks like Kabul International Airport is fully operational again (not that I'd want to fly there, but I'm still surprised at how fast it happened). There are scheduled domestic flights to Kandahar, and occasional international flights to Islamabad and Dubai. (Please limit replies to aviation-related topics.)

Is now a good time to take a vacation there? :)

Yup. While the Taliban are a nasty lot, they certainly weren't going to keep the airports shuttered. When you're ruling an impoverished, landlocked country, the airports are going to be a key piece of infrastructure.

'Numerous temporary unmarked cranes in the vicinity of the airport.'

You really want to avoid cranes in that part of the world. In any capacity.

No more round the world record flights without a stop in Kabul…
