KA road landing kills motorist Canada 8/20/2026

Anyone have any more info? Why did a twin need to make an off airport landing? (Yes, I know it can happen, but not nearly as common as a single engine.)

I initially thought it was a light twin, but this appears to be a Beech King Air 200. So yes, what would kill both engines on such a substantial plane?

Gee... we can only wonder... and I presume there was no fire, either.

This wouldn't be the first empty tank KA in recent years.
Let's hope not.
About 4 nm from an airport.

some reports say they lost #1 enroute
still, that’s well below the se svc ceiling

Yeah - I know. But it’s just hard to wrap my head around the idea someone who can fly a King Air would fly it out of gas.

Regretfully, probably on the mark. Though fuel contamination and just no fire could also be a possibility.

There were a few people trying to rationalize this one as fuel exhaustion due to pilot error as well. https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/netjets-680-down-on-highway-in-laredo.154392

Prelim for the above accident (not the subject of this thread) as of this post date: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/api/Aviation/ReportMain/GenerateNewestReport/203191/pdf

There are "strong indications" (prelim only so far) that they were incorrect, and what seems to be the likely cause was improbable but happened all the same.

Nauga,
who ain't guessing

It is always interesting to find out what they ultimately find. We may be sitting in the pilot seat when it happens one day... you never know.
