After we installed the 830 in our 182, our manifold pressure gauge line is filling with fuel.

This makes the MP gauge inop.

Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

We are calling JPI tomorrow, but thought I would post it here since it is Sunday.

Thanks.

My MAP sensor is at top of the engine, the air line runs to the bottom, so in theory no way could fuel run uphill.
Be prepared to describe exactly how yours is installed.

I’d be very concerned if my map gauge line was full of fuel. But I seriously doubt that’s the case.

Only if the MP gauge was errantly connected as fuel pressure. Does the fuel pressure gage have air in it?

Considering this is a carbureted engine, I see no reason the manifold pressure transducer line couldn't fill up with fuel (or more likely the leftover blue dye) depending on how the line and transducer was installed. I think it would be less likely to happen in an injected engine.

Our mechanic is working on it today and I will get back and post with what happened.

Drill a tiny hole in the line near the gauge. That's Cessnas solution on many different airplanes.

Maybe not, but it may be the only fix. Rather than at the gauge, at the lowest point in the system makes more sense.

I actually think at the gauge makes a little more sense. There should be a touch of flow through the manifold pressure line that way while you taxi in with low manifold pressure. It should help clear out any fuel that may have ended up in the line.

But having a hole at the lowest point would allow the line to drain while the airplane is off in between flights.
