NY Times article and CNN report this morning say this whole thing is due to a misinterpretation.

Every time this happens, it's always a fixed solid fact before that date and a misinterpretation after the date passes.

Wonder if we'll see the same hoopla in 2406?

Someone somewhere is always convinced the world is going to end every year. It's pathetic.

Why are so many people wanting the end of the world to happen anyway? It's like they want to die or something.

Oh my, we're all doomed. The calendar at work ends on Jan 6. Prepare to die everyone, it's over, it's the end of everything and all of existence and there's nothing you can do about it.... ...except maybe wait until the next calendar comes out in a week. But aaiigghh, that one ends too....

Huh? What does this date have to do with the center of the galaxy? It's a reference point in relation to the sun that doesn't affect anything.

Yea. So what. It still doesn't affect anything. Alignments like that happen constantly with all sorts of stuff in the sky and in over 4.5 billion years, the Earth hasn't gone poof because of any of it yet. Not going to either.
