It looks like American and US Airways are merging...

Soon my choices for airfare will be "US Airdeltas" or "Southwest"

Nope, the American types get their chance at karma, after how they screwed the TWA types.

At this point they wont care..most of them are all senior and got what they wanted....once all the old ballz hit 65 AA could be decent place for movement.

What, you mean that what the AA pilots did to the TWA pilots can't happen again? Oh yeah, it was such a heinous act that federal law was changed after the fact. Basically TWA got stapled to the bottom of the list.

Exactly.. Im telling you the AA guys arent worried about it..and reality is that TWA (as sad as it is) was done without AA...you wont see an ISL until many AA/TWA/Easties have moved out...too much of a mess

How can the antitrust laws not be violated with these mega airline mergers?
There is still competition...just less competition.

But as far as any fear that US Scareways will dominate air transportation in this country, I wouldn't worry too much about that. If there is a way to screw it up, Doug Parker will find it.

My prediction still stands....Delta will rule the world!

This is too bad. I don't want U.S. Airways taking on all the problems of American. Just watch how fast the unions destroy that airline too.

Unfortunately, that is the Doug Parker way.

America West was a great airline.....US Air was in the dump. When Parker merged the two, it just made one big mess and they STILL haven't straightened it out between the two pilot groups. Now they are going to add another group of disgruntled employees to the mix?

This has bad written all over it.

What I am curious to know is....what is the plan for Eagle? Are they going to keep it in the whole package or spin it off? I suspect that if they spin it off, DAL will be back on top as far as the biggest in size.

Funny thing is, I suspect that Parker may try to keep Eagle just for the size/capacity which will only serve to drag the whole airline down like it was doing for AMR. Ijnteresting times...

One thing is for sure. C.R. is rolling in his grave.

I can't wait to see how Ghengis Icahn weighs in on the anti-trust debate.

No ****!

In Milwaukee, the largest airline was Midwest Express. We also had Northwest, United, US Air, AirTran, etc.

Then Republic bought Midwest, and rebranded Midwest as Frontier. For a few years, they kept most of Midwest's routes. Now Frontier has about 6 flights out of Milwaukee per day. Delta is the largest carrier, followed by Southwest. So for all intent and purposes, we have two or maybe three choices in Milwaukee.

So fare, I have gotten four emails from AA and Citi telling me of all the wonderful benefits that will be available to me as a result of the merger by the third quarter of 2013. Each had legal boiler plate weasel words from the lawyers that followed and was longer than the message. The weasel words basically said "No matter what you just read, none of it is legally binding and can be changed if we feel like it."

To be expected but never have seen so much BS attached to a message. Wonder what Useless Air's weasel words will look like. :D

Cheers

America Worst? Are we talking about the same airline? Useless Air and America Worst. Heck of a combination. In any case, I've got a cousin who flies for US Air and a high school friend who flies for American. I think I need to get them in contact with each other.

Why? It will be at least 10 years before they are on the same seniority list.

Nor are they required to butt heads with the unions.

In other news, there were 17 MLB and NFL players to make at least $20 million per year in 2009-2010, with salaries as high as $30 million. And they don't even work the whole year!

Some day in the near future there will only be one airline. At that point they might make money. Maybe.
