It had to be a Cirrus....

A similar scenario was only about a year ago for me. Flying my first solo ops at a controlled airport (KLBE), I was to land on runway 23, which is about 8000 feet long. Well, my base went a little long because of wind and me being a newbie, my turn to final hadn't yet finished, and I get a call from the tower... "66G, are you SURE you are on final for runway 23?". Just so happens that runway 21, which is around 3000 feet long, was directly in front of me and, well, it was closed.... :yikes:

Needless to say, this newbie turned a little sharper and made runway 23 with no issues. And a huge kudos to the C130s that were flying low flyovers over the runway - when they heard that I was a student pilot that needed to get my three landings in before dark they diverted to Johnstown to finish their maneuvers and let me complete my landings. Wish I could buy those guys a beverage of choice!
