Is it OK to have 2 certificates?

Every one id disscusing this as if it were a huge inconvenience to them, when in fact, it is a huge inconvenience to the FAA Inspector who is doing his job.

I have learned over the years to treat the certificate/medical/picture ID package just like checking the fuel and oil during pre-flight. Of course, that is part of my "pre-flight which starts at home.

No other way to do it, guys.

Honestly, if you get ramp checked, then it would be child's play for them to take your name/address from your DL and confirm that you have a valid certificate and/or (we're talking glider here) medical.
While that's true, it's still a violation, and they will chastise you for it even if they don't write you up. And, as I said, it's possible they'll get sticky about continuing onward without it. As nosehair said, it should be as much a part of your preflight as checking the oil level (at least for powered planes -- you glider folks can come up with your own analogy).
