Thought it would be an easy guess for someone. :)

I stayed in the Pan Pacific hotel on the water one time. Woke up every day to the sounds of seaplanes taking off from the pier next door.

tails of the caravan floats normally that low at rest?

Nice! Our hotel is close to CYVR but I decided to go exploring and took the Skytrain to downtown. Then I walked around the seawall to Stanley Park.

The plane landing in the original photo is a DeHavilland Otter, and the one at the dock is a Caravan, correct?

Sure looks like Vancouver.

I stayed at the Pan Pacific once and my window had a view over the water and mountains. I had my breakfast in my room and watched the sea planes one morning.

I've been through the airport a few times, but haven't made it into town yet. One of these days we may drive up there. Need to get over the Victoria, too.

I really like Vancouver. Been there several times as I used to ski Whistler/Blackcomb a lot and I'd spend a few days there before heading up to the mountain.

It used to be less expensive due to the exchange rate, but not so anymore. :(

That was the first time I had spent time walking around the waterfront area and Stanley Park. They have done a nice job with it. Seems like the best way to see it would be by bicycle and there were a number of places you could rent one.

I haven't been to Victoria since I was a kid but I hear it's beautiful too, with a strong British influence.
