how important is it to have an in house DPE at your flight school I''m going for my IFR and commercial
 
It's actually examining authority not a DPE in most cases for 141 schools. The major advantage is scheduling convenience but checkrides for most of us are infrequent events.
 
As long as they known of a DPE with a decent sched, doesn't matter if it's in house or not.
 
Not needed,just makes the scheduling easier.
 
I went to the same DPE for private, instrument and both commercials. Riding with him was always a learning experience.

He was a DPE but he was somehow associated with the flight schools in the area.

That's how it worked where I did my training. He was a DPE but he was also listed as the chief flight instructor for the 141 program.
 
Rumor was always the inhouse guys are easier. Conflict of interest and all. If true it isn't enough to matter.
