Navigation and situational awareness is actually a lot easier in the air than on the ground. I've had friends say, "since you fly an airplane, driving in downtown should be a piece of cake, no?". I had to say no, those are two very different things.

Yes, they are - but IMO the underlying skills and traits aren't that terribly different. Discipline, focus and an effective mental/physical connection with the vehicle are crucial to both.

Fear of heights is another thing. I can't easily get myself on the roof. But I can fly aerobatic airplanes. No fear there.

LOL....understood. I have trouble with very high balconies, too...... They seem to be very different, and I have absolutely zero understanding why.
