Used in the movie, Flying Tigers with John Wayne. A medium size twin engined transport plane with tailwheel. About 3/4 the size of a DC-3 and it kind of looks like the DC-3 but with some notable exceptions. The radial engines are open cowled but for the band cowling around the cylinders and the tail is reminiscent of the Constellation tail in that there are three vertical fins. But the three fins are attached by a 2nd elevator in sort of a bi plane configuration.

Was this a real plane or a figment of Hollywood? Back then Hollywood got it mostly right so I am leaning towards this being a real plane. I wonder if it was a Beech product because certain features reminded me of Beech, not that I have a whole lot of experience w/Beech.

I gotta' go now, Sands of Iwo Jima is starting.

Merry Christmas y'all.

According to the internet movie database (www.imdb.com):

"no actual aircraft were used in this movie"

Well, yes. Even the taxiing P-40s were fakes. But they were supposed to be P-40s. I've wondered about that plane in the movie, too. Real, or a figment of Hollywood's imagination?
