Started my new job.
Me and 4 others brought in as consultants. As such, we are sort of an after thought, thrown into a closet in cramped quarters with none of the fun or benefits of being a real employee.

We have quickly begun to banter with one another.

I never say "A black guy" or " A black Girl" but for the purpose of this, I am pointing it out because the attitude is what I find the most funny.

New girl hired along with me (Imagine Nell Carter)

Nell: "So Um... How olt are you anyway"
Me: "That's an odd question. I'm um 38 why"
Nell: "Nope, No way you are a day under 45"
Me: "That's um... I er.. ok"

Nell: "How you gonna have all that grey hair and be 38?"
Nell: "Look at me. I never had a grey hair before. Im forty two"

Me: "Auugh Well I guess, I just. I mean it is in my genes or"

NEll (interrupting) "STRESS! MMM hmmmmm yup yup"
Nell: You all stressed out all the time. Stress causes Grey hair. I bet you stress about everything all the time don't you.

Me: "I guess, I tend to worry about stuff. I am kind of always stressed about something but I think genetics really plays a bigger"

Nell: (Interrupting)" Hey Charles! Check out "Silver Fox" over here always be stressing all the time. Goin all grey. Swears he's only 38"

Charles is also a person of um (Just imagine Will Smith or Pherrel. He is all GQ)

Charles: "The reason I shave my head is because I am all Gray. Age has nothing to do with it"

Nell: "Sure. Whateva. Hey Bryan, I see they got your picture added to the email system. Now everyone is going to know you are stressin all the time with your grey hair"

I swear I turn to Charles and ask him how old he is and when I turn back around Nell is like 6 inches from me (snuck up behind me), I turn around and she locks eyes with me and says "You gotta stop stressin out. You are stressin out right now arent ya?"

She busts out laughing and says "Im just messin with you.... But I still say you are not a day under 45"

This is going to be an interesting gig. Starting off weird enough.

LOL

Ive been grey since i was 16. I mean more salt than pepper. Made high school really interesting. Stress, i can believe it.

You don't look a day over 80.

The photos below were allegedly taken the same year (1965). One man was 39 and the other 37 that year. You're about their average age at that time. The "older" one was killed off at the end of the first TV season they were in because the network of the series they were in wanted to bring in the "younger" guy. But "younger" guy was actually older than the "older" guy.

Be glad you have hair to go grey. I'm 35 and my forehead has turned into a five head.

You've got to be younger than 38. Us old people would never start a sentence with "Me and 4 others ..." ;)

I believe the proper Old Guy English (OGE) would read "Four others and I ..."

Remember.....

We are talking about 6PC... AKA ( Bryan )...:D:D:redface:

Ha! I be just about given up on grammar. The world doesn't seem to care about it anymore. I do work to ensure sentences don't end in propositions and incorrect usage of who and whom annoys me.

What does Mrs. 6PC say 'bout that?

At our five year class reunion one guy was completely bald, another 75% gray.

Feces occurs.

Good thing your new job isn't teaching. But then again, I'm sure today that reading, writing, and arithmetic have been removed from the curriculum because they're racist and misogynistic, and have been replace by White Privilege, Queer Identity, and Feminist Studies.

Nell: You all stressed out all the time. Stress causes Grey hair. I bet you stress about everything all the time don't you

You: No, just when Henning jumps my back.

Just kidding... this was hilarious!

I'm 37 and keep my hair cut so short I would rather not know how grey I am. I know that when I get a haircut hair that is not mine falls onto the black smock.

One of the great features of being of African descent is that they don't age nearly as fast as old whitey.

I'm 36, and I have had some grey in my hair since I was 30. No biggie.

The grey, thinning hair doesn't bother me that much (I can look at pictures of my dad when he was my age and see exactly what's coming), but the last time I got a haircut they asked me if I wanted them to trim my eyebrows. Never had anyone ask that before and never thought about it, I guess I'll have to start having those trimmed lest I become the crazy guy with squirrel tails above his eyes.

Trimming the eyebrows isn't so bad...when they ask about trimming the ear hair is when ya should really start paying attention....

- - and that should have been stated as "We old people."

:o)

At least she spelled your name right.

Boy, that's no sh*t!

Regarding eyebrows. I think all old farts should look like Andy Rooney. He always looked like he had a couple of loose squirrels running around on his forehead. (and now that I look closer...no I really didn't want to...he's growing a wonderful crop of ear hair too!)

I hope Nell is smarter than she sounds. Otherwise how the heck did she get hired for this consultant position. Oh right, state hiring laws, requiring certain human ratio, no matter what IQ. Sorry to hear.

Wow.

Double wow.

There is something wrong with the barber's clippers. By the time the hair he cuts off falls into my line of sight, it has turned grey.

It's normal...

The average age when gray hair first develops is 34.2 +/- 9.6 years in caucasians

(Keogh EV, Walsh RJ. Rate of greying of human hair. Nature. 1965 Aug 21;207(999):877-8)

So... There are those who go bald, those who let themselves go gray and those who dye. Plenty of men dye their hair, it is not just a female thing.

Nah, she knows her stuff.
Back in our corner, we are all a little more relaxed.
Usually at work, I am Bryan. In Meetings I am Bryan.

Back here in our corner I am more 6PC.

It is probably good they keep us locked up away from all the professionals.
We get to let our hair down.

Our very very grey hair.

I'm sure someone was going to ask for you to post pics of the woman until you used the words "nell carter"

You should get some of that grey hair paint they use in the theater and get a little grayer every day. Maybe add a few wrinkles too. Start taking smoke breaks and popping pills to deal with the stress.

Bro.....keep some Cheetos in your desk and whenever she starts up, pull the bag out. Her swamp cooler will be too full to make sentences, not to mention the introduction of snack foods will totally mes up her OODA loop. She wil forget whatever it was she came over for.

Seriously though, seen it before. She is simply posturing. She is subtly trying to exert dominance by making you feel inadequate about your salt and pepper. You can take the high road and tell her to leave you alone, or the low load and start chipping on her about being a lard ass.

Uh, that would be "salt 'n peppa" to you, bub. :)

Congrats on the new job Old Man!!
Don't be Stressin all the time!!! :-)

I don't know the difference.
If I understand they can be used interchangeably one is European or something.

Really no clue.

Grey=English (as in United Kingdom) spelling
Gray=America spelling.

Two peoples divided by a common language...

Sometimes it's good to look older. Our charter passengers the other day were afraid they were going to get young pilots. Our ops woman said their fears would be gone once they laid eyes on the crew. Our combined age is about 120....
