I just totaled up my logbook for August and I flew 148.6 hours with about 212 billable. It's been a busy month but I'm racking up hours and I really enjoy teaching. I've soloed 4 students and hopefully will send my first student for his check ride in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to more instructing and I'm sitting at just over 700TT!

I'll most likely do my multi add on this month or in October. I'm only the second busiest at the flight school. The other guy probably flew around 160!

Mind if I ask 3 questions:
1. Location or type of flight school? Is it one like ATP where they go 0 to 100? Or just near a busy city?
2. Are you building hours to go to the airlines? If so what's your time line goal?
3. Are there any regulations about the number of hours you can teach a month?

I ask these questions because I'm trying to plan ahead and build hours quickly. Although 1500 seems a far ways away considering I'm only halfway through my instrument training.....

1. Long Island, NY. I work at a Part 61 school out of FRG which is about an hour away from NYC.
2. I'm not sure if I want to do airlines or charter. I still have some time to think about it.
3. As a CFI you can't give more than 8 hours of instruction within a 24 hour period. There is no rule about how much you can fly within a month.

Every week aren't you supposed to have at least one day off though? Just curious, that's how it works with the instructors at the school I work with (I'm not a CFI, just friends with the instructors).

No FAA reg that I'm aware of. I can't remember my last day "off"!

We basically make our own schedules and we block out our own schedule. If we want to work 7 days a week we can. I usually just take off when it's raining out.
