After much deliberation and an entire bottle of wine, I have experienced the second happiest transaction of my life.

I have just recently purchased 1/3 of N62TB, a Socata Trinidad based in Skypark Airport, 15G (Airnav).

I know you folks are all about the airplane porn, so:

The Garmin 480 will take some getting used to, but

The interior is nice, and

The engine is pretty, so I'll probably get over the comfort of the interior and sacrifice the 150kt cruise for a bit of cabin comfort

While the 480 and the KAP100 / STEC 60 are going to take some getting used to, the ability to fly coupled approaches is nice, and I love the HSI:

Thanks POA for being there for me during my training, and I'm sure I'll see you in N62TB at some future fly-ins!

*** Note - SixPapaCharlie - thanks for replying to my PM. You helped Seal the Deal, as it were. Sorry I was too much of a jerk to not reply. <3, ChrisK.

Nice looking bird congratulations! Not gonna lie the picture with the jets made me LOL hahaha.

Congratulations!
Looks like good wine. And in the morning, you'll still have an airplane!

The Trinidad looks beautiful and very clean. Enjoy!

That is one sexy looking plane!

Nice plane to be in on. In the end th extra comfort is probably worth more than a bit of extra speed.

The 480 will remain a useful device for a long time to come.

Nice airplane! My club recently bought an '84 TB-20. I've only got about five hours in her so far, but I am pretty impressed. It's by far the most comfortable airplane I've ever flown. We've had a few maintenance issues, and while most of the parts are supposedly available from US distributors, I'd swear the ones we needed came on the slow boat from France. A&P says it's not a hard airplane to work on.

Very nice Chris! You will like that 6-cylinder power, cs prop and fuel flow transducer and higher cruise speeds. Whatever you do, don't forget the gear. Have fun and hope to see you at a local fly-in.

Is that a cassette player above the transponder?

It must be. I do not think it is an 8-track. I vaguely remember what those look like from my older brother's room when I was a kid.

David

I've never seen a cassette player with ALT, VS, and GS buttons.

That's an LED screen you're looking at.

Pretty sure I saw Bon Jovi's slippery when wet in one of those photos

Thanks! I have about 15 hours in the plane, and I've spent at least 4 of them monkeying with the 480. I'm able to set it up properly while not flying. We'll see how I do when my attention is split..

You are going to grow to love that 430.

It actually had a 430 in it before they swapped it for the 480. Among other reasons, the owner thought that it was a cheap WAAS alternative (the 430 was not a W).

That, sir, is an S-Tec System 60 Pitch Stabilization System. It flies a glide slope pretty well, but it holds altitude in cruise about as well as an 8 track =P (it tends to swim a little). In IMC you don't even notice, but in VMC it drives me nuts.

The aircraft does not have electric trim, so the elevator is mechanically driven, and the lights turn on to advise of out-of-trim pressure and the direction in which the pilot should move the trim (mostly so that when you disconnect the autopilot you don't get surprised by an extreme pitch change)

Nice looking bird. I've loved flying our TB-21 the last 6 years. Enjoy it!

Out of trim on A/P also introduces additional wear to the servos.
