I am not a number!

I suppose, but without a unique identifier, how can you be sure which free man you are?

I was referring of course to The Prisoner, of which a revamped re-telling was aired last night and mercilessly hyped before hand.

What did you think?

I skipped it because I've yet to see a movie remake better than the original.

Didn't watch it - it's on the DVR. Any reviews??

ok. I completely missed the reference.

I was watching the Patriots pull stupid out of their bags of tricks.
(man - that coaching decision is my new poster child for D U M B )

Right. Manning couldn't possibly have engineered a 70 yard or so touchdown drive in about two minutes with just three timeouts left.

It goes hand-in-hand with Iowa's decision to run out the clock with :50 left in the game to send it to overtime. Then they got beat by a field goal in first OT. WTF!?

I still would rather have a guy need to go 70 yards, instead of 28.

hmmm, which is harder? 29 yards in 1:37 or 70+ yards in 1:37.

hmmmmm. yeah, I'd be just as happy with 29 yards.

70+.

If you knew football you wouldn't have ignored the third possibility.

Going forward from the botched 4th down attempt and playing the cards dealt to you at that point.... Let Indy score on the first play from scrimmage, and attempt to drive down and kick a FG to win it.

We debated this very logic at lunch.

  1. Do you question your secondary's ability to prevent at 50 yard pass? Go for it on 4th and 2 and hope you convert; if not, the compressed playing field may make it more difficult for Manning to score.
  2. Do you question your opponent's ability to deal with your secondary, or do you believe your defensive line can pin your opponent down? Go for the punt; rely on your secondary to keep the opponent pinned down
  3. Do you trust your offense more than your defense? Meaning, do you believe you are more likely to get 2 yards now than your defense is to prevent 70 yards from the opponent? If so, go for it

My read here is that Bill doesn't trust his secondary, and that he believed he was more likely to convert the 4th down than he was to prevent Manning from getting in scoring position again.

The bet seems counter-intuitive on the surface, but if you don't trust your secondary, Manning with 70 yards to the end zone could be more dangerous than Manning with 28 yards to the end zone.

I just watched McNabb throw up in the huddle...........again.

Back when the Beagles had Randall Cunningham, they could have quick kicked on 3rd and really pinned 'em. Saw that twice and it was awesome both times.

BTW, Steingar, i figured you were just letting us know Mrs Steingar was out of town so you were looking for something to do.

He was FUN to watch. Loved when Cunnigham would punt.

"Marble and Granet from Another Planet" Remember that one?

What is it about Philly sports stars and aliens? Remember Lovetron?

Hell no, he didn't trust the secondary, nor should he have. Manning just scored on his last possession in less than 2 min, and the Pats D did not look good.

Pats had a rookie corner, and the rest of the defense was dog-tired. The officiating was on a hair trigger. That interference call that put the Colts in scoring possession was just wrong. You know Manning would have gone right back to that well.

If I were Belicheck, I would have bet on Brady too. He's done that much before, and in driving snowstorms. And they had it darn close on forward progress, even with the "bobble". At least where the linesman first dropped the marker. The ultimate spot was terrible.

No guts, no glory.
