wind 54 gusting 78 is the strongest I found, in a quick look just now, and that’s at Louis Armstrong Intl. airport.

It’s all downhill now. The rain soaked ground & wind can take a bunch of trees down though. It’s a very serious storm, no doubt.

Gusts to 78kts? Ain’t nothin’, go fly! ;)

I would probably opt to land 11

A few notes:

1. The eye missed MSY by at least 30 miles. The strongest winds are in the immediate eyewall.

2. Some major gaps in the MSY METARs, one because of normal 60 minute observation, two because of outages.

3. MSY is surrounded by trees and buildings that break the wind,at least a little.
