How to contact someone given only tail #

I got a tip from my old instructor that a person at a EDU was dissatisfied with owernership and was thinking of selling or partnering up with someone. Now my instructor only had the tail #. How can I get in contact with this person? I couldn't find much information on flightaware.

www.landings.com has databases that allow you to look up tail numbers

Go to www.faa.gov and right there in the centre of the page is the N-number inquiry option. Put in the N-number, and you can usually get the name/address of the owner...sorry, snail-mail only, but send a letter expressing interest and provide contact information for the owner to get back to you.
