I learned to fly in a Skyhawk with a rate of $89.90 (96.20 post-tax). There used to be a C150 for only $60 an hour at another airport before they sold it a few years ago.
 
Last time I rented..... $35.00 for a C-152 wet. $45.00 for a IFR C-172 wet, $48.00 for the LORAN equipped IFR C-172. And there was no tax on rentals.

That was only 20 years ago.

(does that make me sound old?)
 
I don't rent but

Seems like 172s and Cherokees are going for 100-110ish wet

150/2 80-90ish wet.

About $20hr more if you have to have a late model and glass for whatever reason.

Currently $105 for the C150 and Ercoupe, $119 for the Cherokee 140, $139 for the C172 and C140, and $225 for the Apache. These are wet prices.

Yup! But people rent them anyway. Their Cirrus planes are really popular as well. They are always flying.

That's just crazy, at that price point, if they are the only show in town, buying a little Grumman, 150, 120, Aeronca, etc makes total sense.

There are bunch of other schools at FRG but NFI seems to attract a lot of the wealthy patrons.

Remos-GX rents for $104 wet where I take lessons (KSAF). It's LSA, but has glass cockpit and almost new-plane smell.

All wet prices, but it's a club not an FBO, so there are monthly dues ($30) and no FBO type services. Just airplanes on a ramp.
 
This is why I bought a plane...

C172S (g1000) - $195 wet (happy meal/minute)

PA-44 (g1000) - $380 wet (2 happy meals/minute)
 
C172/G ---130/hr plus 25/mo membership

SR20---192/hr wet

SR22---253/hr wet
 
$97/hr for a 150, $121/hr for a 172, and $156/hr for the 180hp Arrow in the club I'm in. All those are based on tach time.
 
C172N : $112 wet
C172 180HP : $115 wet
C182RG : $160 wet
Evektor Sportstar : $108 wet

All include a fuel surcharge that varies based on the price of 100ll
 
KTTA, just south of Raleigh. Current hourly rates at Wings of Carolina - all wet, plus $65/month membership

C152 - 64.73
Warrior II - 90.89

The rates fluctuate periodically depending on the price of fuel. You can reduce membership if you help out with some tasks around the club, such as washing airplanes or doing maintenance on maintenance night. We have a couple of members who are A&Ps, so we take care of the substantial portion of maintenance ourselves.

All prices are wet and to my knowledge all are IFR-equipped except the 152. The R/S models have 430W in them.

I learned to fly in a new C-150 at $18/hr wet. Ok, that was 40yrs ago.

Currently paying $200/hr wet for a C182RG, 78 model, G430W with MX20.
$165/hr wet, T-41B (210HP) with GTN750
$27/hr for an LS-4
$30/hr for a Grob 103 Twin II
 
We're charging $120/hr wet for a steam 172M. Given the cost of fuel, insurance, and hangar, I can't figure out how you'd do it for less.

Then again we pay $4.5/gallon for car gasoline as well and it's the cheapest in years :)

KTCY has a variety of C172 M, N, and P planes, all which rent for $75/dry. It comes out to about $120/hour wet.

Renters policy protects the renter not the owner of the airplane. Not a viable strategy at all unless you don't care about liability coverage and don't care about whether or not you'll get paid if something happens to the hull.
