Nate's post about a couple people wanting to ignore him made me wonder about who ranks where on the number of "ignores" they have?

I've ignored three people at various times just because their posts became needlessly repetitive and pointless to read: Cap Ron, "captain" and D Bader.

How many people ignore my dry (arrid even) wit and pointless ragging on people for inane things while also pointing out the "pompus experts" failings?

Also, can the ignore feature be modified so that anything Ben posts about sheep can be deleted? how bout a filter for 6PC and penis? how bout R&W shilling for either airbus or the faa? dtuuri's contradictory argument circles? the possibilities (and needs) are endless!:stirpot:

Paranoia causes me not to ignore people. Gotta know what ya'll are saying about me. :D

Nah, I am not really paranoid. If I do not want to read a particular person's post(s) in a thread, I skip over them. I think that putting someone on ignroe can disrupt the flow/progression of a thread which may change it and appear different than it does.

David

Why would you have ignored Cap'nRon, Captain and D Bader? Shoot, they're some of my favorites.

I disagree with you a lot, but you're not obnoxious, and occasionally funny, so there's really no need to put you on ignore.

There are a few folks here I have to have on ignore though. I lack the willpower to not read their vitriol otherwise, and it just makes my day worse. Thanks to the power of the ignore feature my days are, on average, 23.2% better.

wait a minute here, if they have me on ignore they won't see my post asking who has me on ignore? Can I be a mod for a day to see who ignores me? :goofy:

I Have just informed the National Sheep Mental Illness Dept,,,,

You are in hot water sir....:yikes::D..

With that said I have never Iggy'ed anyone... YET.

The Vance Breeze guy who types in one line sentences has me REAL close though....

How does one Iggy someone .?????

Not that it is on point or anything but I detest boiled mutton.

I have you on ignore only on opposite day. :D

I could've sworn there was a smiley that had him plugging his ears and not listening. Can't find it at all.

I actually don't have anyone on my ignore list, but a few are close. KA550 constantly badgers me in threads because of the one I made a while back that he didn't particularly agree with, apparently. CTLSi for obvious reasons although he hasn't shown up in a while, and others. Easier to just ignore threads as doctors find new types of cancer in the posts within.

You're too much fun to ignore, Clark, and your humor is appreciated...no matter how dry and twisted...in fact, that's why it's so appreciated. You're another case of someone that needs to be met and gotten to know in person to be fully appreciated on the boards.

I have one person on ignore: CTLSi. But I think he's long gone, banned or whatever.

At one point in time I had the same three as you (Clark) on ignore, with the addition of Henning, for the same reasons as you. I also had Ben, Larry, Florida Cracker, Stan, Anthony and a few others on ignore for trying to turn EVERY thread into something political and bringing their vitriol from the spinzone out into the main forum (this spin zone spill-over vitriol was last displayed in the now locked "I'm out" thread).

No longer though, I've found it more effective to ban threads when they start going south. It's rare that I don't ignore a thread that's gone past 50 posts because the majority have degraded into a Pizzing contest or ego trip by then.

I can ignore you just fine without the feature ;)

I don't put anyone on ignore.

I don't have anyone on ignore but some posters are better skipped over because they are simply trolling.

OTOH, Overdrive may become the first if he doesn't change that hyperactive avatar. :D

Using ignore is like putting an eye patch on a good eye.

Go ahead, put me on ignore like a girly man!

 Can you block an Avatar? Someone might discover they have epilepsy and lose their medical.

I ignore everyone who disagrees with me that way I'm always right
You're not always wrong! :goofy:

I debated on making it even faster but I don't like being blocked  He's still freaking out, you just see less of it. :D

I don't have anyone on ignore. I have threads on ignore but not people.

I look forward to your postings but sometimes I click nervously because you are brutally honest sometimes and I go "Ah I hope this is a good one" *click* "whew!"

I NEVER ignore Bryan because he is so "chummy" with edfred, and i can't wait to see what happens next. They're like an old movie serial, where you have to keep coming back to the movies to find out what happened, and every night is another cliff hanger.

I just figure everyone ignores me and I talk to myself. LOL. Whatever!

I tried to put myself on ignore once. I didn't post for weeks.

wot are ya doin' to improve yer aim?

Actually I didn't make it to the range last month. :(

Need to fix that. The neighbors on the big ranch were plinking with what sounded to be a very nice rifle this afternoon. Nice background sound effect while I was sitting on the deck waiting for the dogs to decide they wanted to come in for supper.

Why ignore anyone, there is entertainment to be had by reading the posts.also it's good to see others thoughts on most subjects.

I don't have anyone on ignore. But sometimes, I do ignore some posts. It is easy to skip stuff that is stupid.

It is impossible for me to skip all the stuff that is stupid because I don't know how to write my own posts without reading them.

I often qualify myself as stupid. The problem with stupid people is that we don't know we're stupid. But I like people. We all have the capacity.

I ignore threads. Nothing you can say can make me care about your feelings about Taco Bell. Sometimes guys are bored and that's what's on their mind. No big deal to me. I have the ultimate ignore button on the upper right side of my laptop just in case.

Just speaking for myself...

As one recent example, a fellow named "SomeTexan" joined the forum a while back.

First, he said police officers should kill their supervisors if their orders seem improper.

When I questioned that, he called me a traitor and said I should be shot.

Just words, but I get a visceral response to what borders on hate speech. I remember where I was and how I felt when I read those words. Not caring to engage what was either blatant trolling or just an inherent meanness, or even a possible mental disorder, I reported the post and put him on ignore.

Later, I just got to see snippets of his posts when quoted. Even that was enough to see he was going on to say he wished harm on forum members children for the positions they held.

Like I said, truly hateful things to say. Crap I'd really just as soon not be exposed to.

On the other hand, I would never ignore someone for holding a contrary opinion. Debate is healthy, and it's good to have one's positions tested.

But on rare occasion the ignore function does serve a purpose, and the forum is better once a select few posters are selectively "culled".

For me, anyway!
