Hi yall have any favorite GA airports either walking or biking distance to a nice hotel? I live in the SE but open to all lower 48 ideas.

My favorite so far is Jekyll Island, GA.

Thank you for all your ideas!

Don't have a favorite, but here's a helpful map for determining one:

There is a Best Western and a Motel 6 at KIYA, Abbeville LA, both about a 500 yard walk from the FBO.

I use kssi when going up and down the coast. The hotel on the airport is a short walk to some good restaurants.

Marion County (MAO) had a Quality Inn about 10-15 minute walk away. With fast food nearby. It wasn’t a classy place, but it was pet friendly. I haven’t been there in a few years. I usually stick to SSI for the 2 minute walk and delicious BBQ at southern Soul

Oshkosh KOSH. Hilton right on the field with its own parking. It should go without saying there are about 2 weeks a year that it’s booked solid.

KRDG - Reading, PA. Holiday Inn Express about 100 yards from the FBO.

Thanks, but there's no need to convert it to kml; foreflight will import it natively as user_waypoints.csv. Unfortunately, the forum software won't allow the upload with a .csv extension.

There are two AirBnB's (Blue Moon & White Pine) right next to the field at Big Sandy Airport in Eastern Kentucky(KSJS). There's also a fantastic little diner called Cloud 9 Cafe.

I improved the code a bit. Probably needs more tweaking.
The API I'm using is... fussy. I was trying to retrieve a bubble of everything around each airport within a certain radius, but it was only returning a subset of categories, and it didn't really honor the radius I was asking for. I found a way to get everything in the bubble (or at least more), then manually filter by radius (~1 mi) and category; now I get an an order of magnitude more hits.

We've landed at Bluffton OH and walked over to the HOJOs or whatever that hotel is on the field.

We landed in Humboldt IA once when my wife decided the Super 8 was within walking distance. The only problem is that the guy in front of me in line got the last room. The desk clerk called around for us and found a room in Pocahontas IA. She said their airport was really small. I poined out it wasn't smaller than Humbolt which is more than large enough for our plane. She then called the local police there to ask how we could get to the hotel. The cops told us that there was a crew car and the keys were in the FBO, but if we couldn't find it that they would be glad to give us a ride into town.

We land and sure enough there's an old cop car there that has to be the courtesy car. It took us twenty minutes of searching around in the (unattended) FBO to find the key. Oddly enough, it was a local holiday "heritage days" so we got treated to nice fireworks that evening.

Beaumont, KS
You don't walk to the hotel. You taxi your plane off of the airport, down the highway and park across from it!

this is fantastic!

Of course, both Oshkosh and Lakeland have Hilton Garden Inns on the field (Oshkosh has a few others: Super 8, ...). During the show these can be a bit hard to get a room and are pricey. Except a few years ago we were down at SunNFun and while they jacked up the room rates (dollars), the cost to stay on Hilton Points stayed reasonable (in fact, I stayed the week for less than two nights would have cost me at the Brandon Hampton).

Just got back from KGPI, Glacier Park International in Kalispell, Montana. Glacier International Lodge is about 150 yards from the terminal. Incredible scenery.

Kalispell City airport S27 also has a few walkable hotels; the pricey Hilton Garden Inn is right outside the airport gate, while next door is the more economy minded AeroInn... I stayed there last night. Basic, but clean.

Don't know if it counts but the Crowne Hotel @ KIND overlooks the Signature FBO.
Fly to KEYE, eat at Ricks Boatyard, then pop over to KIND for your hotel stay
