Hosting my first fly-in

For the fly-in. At our EAA chapter we apply for fly-in and fly-out insurance, covers us in case someone has a mishap and the lawyers name every party involved in the lawsuit.

Our airpark hosts an annual fly-in. We get a one-day event insurance policy which separates our normal insurance from the event.
Interesting. This one was at a public use airport, I would never have thought about getting a policy for an event at such a setup. Given the huge number of such events every summer, I wonder how many people do that.

We (a couple of friends and I) hosted a twice a year paramotor event for a few years. Never got any kind of insurance, but I don't think anybody would have insured us anyway. Paramotoring was still fairly new at the time. We did required a signed waiver from all who wanted to fly at the event. Whether that waiver would have held any water in court was fortunately never tested. There was one serious injury, but the pilot involved knew it was his own fault (he was careless while ground running his engine, not even flying) and there were no repercussions as far as we were concerned.
