Good Afternoon all we just installed a 275 in our aircraft. We are experiencing high cht on number one cylinder on takeoff then it drops to normal during flight. The aircraft hasn’t been flown in 2 months.

Carburetted? Check for an intake leak on #1.
Fuel injected? Also check for a clogged injector.

Maybe a bad plug? Run-up mag drops ok? Try running one mag at a time in-flight and compare.

Say type aircraft? How high is high?

Is your baffling in good shape? A primer leak caused a hot like vindaloo #2 on my plane.

I think we did install Egt with that. We just put it in so no we didn’t have cht before.

500 seems rather high. So #1, Continental, rear cylinder, ‘co-pilot’ side? After takeoff temp comes back to normal? New engine? How new? Hours?

I’d look at what the other CHTs are at, during the same time. If EGT is available, see how they correlate with individual CHTs. Likely no ‘cowl flaps’ to adjust airflow around the engine with this A/C?

Then what about environmental conditions during the high CHT events, OAT? Ground time?

Early in I had some CHT variance with my fwd, right cylinder, lycoming, always low by a good bit. I ended up going with aluminum tape, modest amount. Now my CHTs are often less than 10 degrees of difference.

If you have an honest 500, engine past any ‘break-in’ period, I’d continue to evaluate the issue.

That is too hot. Here's an article with some tips on troubleshooting.

Post pictures of your new baffles and seals.
