yes and yes
the slide was about 15 miles south west side of the island. Slides are no new item there, but this one is a big one, and in the high rent district.
we live in town.
nightly new said Whidbey was a small Island, I guess 60 miles long is a small island to them.

Puget Sound shorelines often have landslides. The most famous recent was Perkins Lane in 1996. Many million $$$ homes and several lives were lost.
