I always think of the Caravan as a great, safe plane. Wonder what happened.

I don't know about 'great', but they seem to have a relatively safe record.

With the exception of the 135 box carriers, the idea of a turbine powered single engine, non-pressurized, fixed gear airplane didn't excite that many folks compared to some of the competition.

I've shot T&Gs at that airport. If the surf is up you might get wet if you don't climb quickly enough. It will be interesting to see how this works out.

First, the pilot did a perfect job IMO, bravo.

The Caravan inspires a lot of confidence (at least it did for me). It is a big ungainly looking beast, but it flies great and has a certain confidence inspiring industrial strength to it. It also glides very well, another thing that surprised me. IF I had to make a water landing in a single the Caravan would be very high on my list.

Folks, take the politics to Spin Zone.

Several posts have been deleted in this thread because people did not heed Bill's request. If you want to discuss politics as it relates to this accident start another thread in the SZ.
