Happy Tax Day, POA

I'm guessing I'll be able to wrap taxes up within another couple weeks. I always have to file for an extension.

Gonna drop a check in the mail at lunch to the State, still waiting on Fed refund to show in my bank account.

I'd almost forgotten - filed back in March, I think, but for the first time ever I had to mail in my estimated tax. I'll have to set up calendar reminders for that. This is uncharted territory for me.

Extension filed...like most years since I've partnered with corporate. They are always behind on K1's. In the past couple of years my quarterlies have just about been spot on, so no big surprises.

as if you didn’t despise the taxman enough………

I'm also learning that businesses can't do estimated payments via mail anymore, or at least, I am outsmarted as to how to achieve this. I wish TurboTax had thought to mention that back in January when I e-filed.

7 days for them to snail-mail me a PIN to light up EFTPS, sigh.

Guess I'll give this whole process the finger and suffer the 8% again next year.

Well, they're taking a bigger chunk than last year, but I'm glad to have made enough money to owe this much tax.

Every early January I make bold proclamations to the accountants about how I will have them all the tax info shortly. March to April rolls around and I tell myself that is what I will work on tomorrow. I then call a day or two before the due date act exhausted and throw out a few excuses about how I just couldn't get it done this year but for sure next year I will.

I have repeated this cycle for quite some time.

For any tax accountants here, I just identified a mistake I've made the last several years reporting a rental property expense. The mistake does not impact my taxes but does impact a loss carried forward each year. Do I need to wait for the first amended return to finish processing before amending the following year?

I’ve always said that my goal was to have to pay a million bucks a year in income tax.

Didn’t make it. But I’m OK with it.

Between owing the Feds and refunds from the Staties, close to break even this year.

Since death and taxes are the only certain things in life, I am always happy to pay the taxes.

This is my first full year of retirement, so no more withholdings from paychecks, and I also did a good chunk of Roth IRA conversion. It turned out, I was waaaayyy off the mark in guesstimating what my quarterly tax estimate payments should be now that my withholdings have stopped. So today I wrote state and federal tax checks that could have paid for a decent SUV. :(

100% 1099 work last year and Bryan likes to hold on to every penny as long as he can. I wrote the largest check I've ever written. It made me sad. Sugar momma didn't seem as bothered by it. She said go flying. At this point would they even notice if we didn't pay?

Because I never know what post tax dividends are going to pay, I always have extra federal taken out of my W-2 pay, so I don't get caught writing a huge check like I did one year. This year, I overpaid the feds about 6x more than I underpaid the state. Last year it was about 20x.
