    Happy Thanksgiving yall. Hope you had a great one. Went to Ohio for the first time. Flying on a Embraer 190 right now. Smooth ride. Jet Blue is a cool airline.

    I thought real Ohioans call it "Ohi".....

    I am not a real Ohioan. But I did land there once and noticed a drive in theater right across the street. Ate at a mom and pop restaurant. They called pork, bar-be-que, and had awful cole slaw...

    Hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well..!!

    In Ohio, as in most (all?) of the North, "barbecue" means "(verb) the process of cooking any food on a grill," while here in God's Country we all know that barbecue is "(noun) slow cooked or smoked pork, with sauce of varying consistency and spiciness."

    One thing that is cooked well in Ohio is bratwurst. Really learned to enjoy it while living there, but oh, so very happy to live there no more . . . .

    Down along the Ohio River, it's pronounced more like o-hia, where the "a" at the end fades out .

    Same in Texas were I was born and lived for many years. The term bar-be-que is used to mean cook outside. As in "Y'all wanna come over tomorrow? We can bar-be-que while the kids play in the sprinkler.." Bar-be-que may mean cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, steaks along with corn on the cob. But when we slow cook meat and call it bar-be-que, that means beef and nothing else. Sometimes someone will say I got some pig on the grill, but that is never intended to mean bar-be-que.....

    And of course it is understood and never has to be said that beer will be on ice in the cooler, and if invited at least a 30 pack will be brought by the invited guest.

    Geographical differences, fer sure...:lol::lol::lol:

    Ohia..... that is probably what I was hearing.

    Just to be clear, Pearl and bud light are not beer. Well maybe from a regulatory point of view they are but we all know about regs.

    Alabama, yeah we can do brats too, but ribs, pork, and really any other meat is done right and delicious, and is the bomb baby. Beer, WGAF what you drink, just bring some and share if need be. Liquor too if ya wanna.

    I actually considered using the in flight wifi yesterday and making a similar post but instead I just hunkered down with my movie and scowled while the woman next to me knitted at light speed, her elbows and yarn flying every which way while her kid in the window seat wiggled and bounced and yammered and kept sliding the window shade up and down and up and down making the sunbeam flash like a strobe and me asking God to help me not commit multiple homicide with my bare hands before the flight attendants could stop me.

    Not at all. Please don’t feel that way. However I believe that the POA rules, which I need to read some day, stipulate that a minimum of 30% of replies to any OP be smart ass remarks. And we do have some real professionals on here at doing that. I try to do my best to be compliant with that requirement but several others make me look like an amateur. I think I’m improving though. Stick around, you’ll get the hang of it.

    Seriously ,WTF is wrong with you?

    With your bare hands?

    I’d yanked her knitting needles out of her hands and used them. You need to learn how to do things more efficiently.

    You mean the flight attendants allowed that? Weren't they afraid she might knit an Afghan?
