Great Lakes Islands/Michigan UP

Hi everyone I’m looking for recommendations on which islands to land on in the Great Lakes area. I see so many off MN, WI, MI and OH. Any runway with a nice hotel nearby is a huge plus. Thanks!

Yes Mackinac is nice, I really like Beaver Island also. I just go to the main airport, bum a ride to town.

Mackinac is a tourist trap with too many people, but to each his own.

If you make it over to Minnesota, KDYT in Duluth is a great little airport right on the peninsula between the lake and the harbor.

Great airport, short walk to the beach. I think it is still on the bus line. And just on the other side of the lift bridge is Canal Park, lots of restaurants, hotels, shops, etc. You may get a brisk crosswind off Lake Superior. Beware of tall original growth trees just east of the airport... the last original growth in Minnesota.
