My 102 year old grandmother passed away Wednesday. I needed to relax so went flying yesterday in a 172 with an instructor. Haven't flown one for 34 years. Best flight session I've had since I got back into it. Go figure....

Now I have to fly back to Canada and brave the cold of the Canadian prairies.

I think I'll go flying at the airport I learned at....

Sorry for your loss. For me, flying has been a form of mental therapy in such times for 35 years. Blessings on your family during this difficult time.

Thanks Loren. Just not looking forward to going back to Winterpeg.

Sorry for your loss. Good that you took an instructor with you. Best time for buggering things up as you are pretty distracted at a time like this.

Condolences.

From the thread title, I though it might involve grandma's ashes being scattered from a plane.

A thought? Or going more traditional.

BTW, when my grandfather passed in the 1970's, the small amount I got in his will made it feasible for me to get my Private license.

Thanks again, grandpa!

Condolences. 102 is a great run.

Yes, on both accounts. X2

My mom just turned 100 (I was a late in life catholic mistake). She's doing well but it surely can't be much longer. I dread the day.

Sorry for your loss. Both of my partents are gone, when I fly, I figure I'm just a little closer to heaven and always say hi.

sorry for your loss. I'm glad you brought someone up with you though.

Thanks. Yeah. Could have rented one of the planes I fly and gone solo, but didn't think I would meet the IM SAFE criteria.

Tim, just see her as much as you can. What's scary is she was about my age (as I am now) when I was born. Feeling very mortal.

Thanks.

I thought I was the only one that did that.
I'm not particularly religious, but when I am up above the clouds I sometimes backslide into my religious upbringing.

OP, sorry to hear about your Grandmother. 102 years would just about be the total years of both of my parents.

Very sorry for your loss. MY condolences to you and your family.
